The purpose of the event is to:

1) Connect our local musicians with music appreciators

2) Offer a unique venue specifically intended for original music

3) Give back to the community by donating a percentage of the event's proceeds to a charitable cause. 

Musicians in Baltimore County are limited in venues where their original music can be fully appreciated.  There are plenty of gigs at bars, cafes, and restaurants where they play cover songs in an atmospheric background. Musicians who are tired of being background music can schedule a performance at a theater, studio space or listening room, but only if they can pay a hefty rental fee.  There are also other series like ours.  However, very often only well known and touring musicians are scheduled.

We saw a problem, got to work with a plan to solve it, and the Candlelight Music Series was created.  We are scheduling talented musicians who are seeking to perform in a venue that is not only free to book, it is also a dedicated space created specifically for their original music to be fully appreciated.  

The model works because instead of paying a rental fee or hoping for tips at a bar, our musicians are sending a minimum of 18 personalized invitations to their most ideal audience members, each with a formally requested RSVP.  A portion of the proceeds goes to a charitable cause of the musician's choice, a cause that the musician feels deeply passionately about.  

The musician's passion 1) for their cause and 2) for their original music creates a strong foundation and is the backbone of our events. 

Each performance offers awareness to a myriad of causes, the audience feels good about where the proceeds of their purchased ticket is going, and the only people in attendance are precisely those individuals who our musicians want to enjoy their music. 

The series takes place in a cozy, softly lit "listening room" space.  The venue is located upstairs in a farmhouse loft, above a ground level room that was transformed into a music store. What makes our venue unique is that there are no chairs, as would be expected in a traditional concert space. We are creating an intimate music-listening experience that is both connective and memorable, as if our audience was attending a family gathering. Audience members are encouraged to bring either their favorite comfortable folding chairs, or pillows and blankets to relax and spread on the floor.   The musicians are performing on the same level with their listeners and have the creative freedom to share their original music and stories, their vulnerability, openness, and musical heart to heart connection in our intimate setting, specifically tailored for this purpose.
